I read this on Miguel de Icaza’s blog:

“Have you not learned from history? Microsoft has damaged all of their partners in the past!

I have gotten a few emails along those lines and folks asking for comment, and a lot of hate mail (more than usual). I find it hard to reply to this comment, because this is really going to come down to personal opinions and personal biases.”

And, since I am so obsessed sweet, I felt the need to immediately send Mr. de Icaza here an email massaging his ego, telling him to disregard the hatemail and that he is awesome and brilliant, and that they are all just jealous.

And every word of that is true. He is brilliant and awesome.

In regards to Microsoft and Novell’s deal:

All our Miguel De Icaza belong to us.

For some, the title might seem confusing.

For others, it might make sense, but seem random.

Either way, I shall explain:

Nat Friedman works at Novell. (them dudes at Novell just signed an interesting agreement with Microsoft, by the way.) He works with Miguel de Icaza. They are friends. They are cute. But anyways, a while back they had a conversation on my blog, and Nat sent Cat some stuff in a box because I sent him an e-mail and they all got to talking, and so he got 3240892734892379 coolness points. (not that Miguel doesn’t get coolness points, he’s very awesome as well. )

And, so I heard about Novell’s deal with Microsoft, so I went to Miguel’s blog to read his thoughts on it. I read his thoughts, and all was good. Then, I said “all right, Nat Friedman, did you update?!” because he hasn’t updated in millions of years (it’s months, actually). And he still didn’t update.

I have a paper to do for the class(es) that I am failing, American Studies (counts as two credits, it is both history and english). It’s about people who made an impact on Chicago history. And the topic I got was Clarence Darrow. You can read a bit about him at Wikipedia.

Now, how in the hell do those two items relate? I will tell you!

On Nat’s site, he says a bunch of things that he’s done in the past. And this is one of those things:
“I compiled the transcript of the 8-day Scopes “monkey” trial into a script which my friends performed on July 4th, 2005″

I went “wait, monkey trial, I’ve heard that somewhere before…” went back into my mind, and thought about my paper. “NO FUCKING WAY!”

I love Nat Friedman. That is a great resource for my paper. I will cite him and his glorious work. He forever holds a place in my heart as a cool dude.

*sigh* Dude, it was fantastic. I IMed Miguel de Icaza, and he IMed back, and it was fantastic. Even though he said a few things, it was awesome, and I love him, and I was so excited. It was during Seminar, and it was totally awesome.

Well, while senselessly surfing the mrilliant Wikipedia, I came across the Miguel de Icaza article.

As we all agree, Miguel kicks, so I was wondering if anything had changed recently.

Not so much. But this interview popped up into the links. It’s from May, and it’s on FLOSS Weekly which is apparently a podcast. I’ve never heard it before, so I am assumuing many of you haven’t as well. It’s a great interview. 47 minutes long almost, 21.5 megs.

So, if you have an hour to spare, or just silence that you need to break, or hard drive space to waste, give this Miguel interview a go.

He is totally awesome. He made my friend Cat’s day by commenting on her blog.

What’s amazing is that I asked him to through an e-mail, which apparently he read.

He read my e-mail. Somebody important read *MY* e-mail!

And then Cat e-mailed him to make sure it was him, and sure enough, he read and replied to her e-mail within 24 hours.

He kicks ass.

He totally gets MAJOR coolness points.

So, Nat, if you somehow find my blog through Cat’s blog, then know that you kick MAJOR ass and you are WAAAAAAY up there on my “List of people that work with computers and are waaaaaaaaaay coolness.”
